Over the past several years, many great teaching universities have shifted their emphasis to research, grant writing, and publication. While everyone here at Shenandoah University understands the importance of such endeavors, our students remain our principal concern. It is a great joy to be part of a university that recognizes excellence in teaching as the pathway to an enlightening and rewarding student experience. At Shenandoah University students quickly discover that we work together to turn obstacles into opportunities. We are truly a "Yes You Can" university.

This career is not so much about academic awards or initials after one's name (although the day I became a Registered Respiratory Therapist was one great day!). A few of the most notable moments of my career are those times when I can: 1) give breath to a terrified patient who cannot breathe; 2)hold a newborn infant in my hands and witness its first breath, knowing that I am responsible for that fragile life should something go wrong; and 3) restart a stopped heart, all this with the help of a medical team whose skills rival those of any professional sports team.
