Professional Highlights

  • Medea Namoradze-Ruhadze was formerly lead soprano at Tbilisi State Opera House, performing principal roles in La Traviata, Rigoletto, Un Ballo in Mascera, Il Barbiere di Seville, Don Giovanni, and Carmen, as well as operas by Russian and Georgian composers.
  • Since coming to the US in 1989, she has remained active as singer and teacher, performing in Brahms’ German Requiem at Carnegie Hall, and as Musetta in La Bohème with the Capital City Opera at the Kennedy Center. With the Opera Camerata she recorded a CD of Rossini’s Stabat Mater. She specializes in coaching singers in Russian and bel canto literature, and has given many masterclasses throughout the US. By special invitation from President and Mrs. Carter, she helped make cultural exchange an important vehicle for improving relations between Americans and her native people.
