Having begun as a public school teacher and spent many of my 33 years in public education as an administrator and leader before coming to Shenandoah University, teaching again is what brings a smile to my face and a bit of joy to my soul. A highlight in my day comes from an email or call from a former student who just wants to share a great story or simply catch me up on what is happening in his/her life. Whether it is a new job or a new baby or a new spouse, hearing from former students affirms what I do. Knowing that they are continuing to grow and learn and contribute positively to the lives of hundreds of young people daily only multiplies my happiness.
When I am not engaged in teaching and writing, I find reading and fishing great ways to recharge my battery. My wife, Linda, and I enjoy traveling, spending time with our children and grandchildren, and we serve in different Lions Clubs as one of the ways we serve our community.
