Professional Highlights

  • Karen Walker principal teachers were Thomas Mastroianni, Fernando Laires, Luis de Moura Castro and Arthur Tollefson.
  • Dr. Walker has been involved in the development and leadership of the Conservatory’s "The World of the Piano," a concert series devoted to promoting excellence in piano performance and providing first class artists in live performance throughout the academic year.
  • An active member of the Music Teachers National Association and the Virginia Music Teachers Association, she served as the Collegiate Chair for the Performance and Chamber Music Competition from 1996–2004.
  • In 2000, she was a featured artist at the Amalfi Coast Music Festival in Vietri and Ravello, Italy.
