Professional Highlights

I have published recently two chapters on "Antebellum Compromises" and "Reconstruction Governments" for the "Conflicts in American History" series from Facts on File. I am anticipating my book on the Battle of Chancellorsville through History Press to be out soon. Also, I will be attending a seminar on "Slave Narratives" at Yale University in early June sponsored by the Gilder Lehrman Institute and the Council for Independent Colleges.

Personal Highlights

My wife, Amy, and I are pleased to announce the birth of our son James K. Bryant, III on January 26, 2009.

Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society
The National Honor Society in History, Phi Alpha Theta, was established in 1921. Phi Alpha Theta seeks to bring students, teachers and writers of history together for intellectual and social exchanges, which promote and assist historical research and publication by its members in a variety of ways. Our Alpha Lambda Iota Chapter (Shenandoah University) was initiated in 2004.
